EXPLORE Hāpainga Ora is a highly reputable service operating across New Zealand with a mission to empower people from a strengths-based, Positive Behaviour Support approach.

They do this by utilising evidence-based clinical frameworks and working in partnership with disabled people, whānau/family and disability support providers across the sector. The delivery of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) aims to improve people’s quality of life and the quality of life of those around them.

During an Explore internship you will be involved in supporting the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support approaches that blend the rights of the individuals with disabilities with evidence-based practice. Some of the tasks you’ll be involved in, include undertaking assessments of a person’s environment, their communication needs, quality of life outcomes and broader assessment of support needs (all with the support of a Behaviour Specialist). You’ll then contribute to the development of Safety Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, engage in meetings with clients and their whānau/family and their support networks, and play an active role in the implementation, coaching and monitoring the plan in practice.
